By the decision of the Accreditation Commission of the AHPGS on 7 September 2015, the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, a joint institution of the Freie Universität Berlin and the Humboldt-Universität Berlin, has been successfully undergone the procedure of system accreditation. The accreditation is awarded for six years.
System accreditation is objected to the internal quality assurance system of a higher education institution in the field of teaching and learning. As a result of the successful system accreditation the Charité, Berlin, is allowed to accredit its own study programs.
In the process of system accreditation of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the processes and structures relevant to teaching and learning have been assessed by an expert group proven through years of experience in management of higher education institutions. The expert group focusses on whether the institution has the structure and the ability to guarantee that the qualification objectives of the programs can be achieved, and that there is a high standard of quality for the programs.
The Charité has more than 7000 enrolled students studying in undergraduate study programs (mainly in medical programs) and postgraduate programs. The Charité is one of the biggest university hospitals in Europe.
