The AHPGS sees itself as an organization that makes a significant contribution to securing and developing the quality of study and teaching at German universities and around the world.
The AHPGS conducts accreditation procedures for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs as well as system accreditation of universities.
The aim of the accreditation process is to give universities, students and employers a reliable orientation regarding the quality of study programs and institutions. At the same time, the national and international recognition of the degrees should be guaranteed.
The implementation of system accreditation procedures serves to check whether the university’s quality assurance system in the field of study and teaching is suitable for achieving the defined qualification objectives and ensuring the quality standards of the degree programs.
The implementation of accreditation procedures for program and system accreditation is formally regulated, continuously documented and therefore comprehensible and transparent.
The AHPGS provides the universities with the necessary information and documents for all process steps and processes.
The process steps of accreditation and system accreditation are well-documented and visible to all parties at any time. Relevant decisions are publicly available.
The AHPGS uses qualified appraisers for the implementation of accreditation procedures and system accreditation and ensures a fair and independent procedure.
The AHPGS prepares its experts comprehensively for the implementation of accreditation procedures and system accreditation.
The accreditation commission bases its decision on the “Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area” and decides according to the standards and criteria laid down by the Accreditation Council and the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK).
The basic principle of the internal structure is a close, team-oriented cooperation of all employees on the basis of a developed information, communication and conflict culture. The AHPGS works on the principles of economy and thriftiness and is not profit-oriented.
